	Risk of burn injuries,  suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.	Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone.	AS49.00-Z-0001-01A

	Remove/install
1	Remove center engine compartment lining and rear engine compartment lining.	Engine 279 in model 223 except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)

2.1	Remove underfloor paneling at left and right side.	Engine 279 in model 223 except code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)
			AR61.30-P-1001S
2.2	Remove center floor armoring and rear floor armoring.	Engine 279 in model 223 with code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)
			AR61.40-P-1001S
3	Unscrew screws (2) and remove center strut (3).	Screw, Center tunnel strut to body	*BA61.10-P-1001-01P
4	Remove heat shields (21).	Engine 279 in model 223 with code Z07 (B7 armoring on special protection version)
5	Unscrew screws (4) and remove rear strut (5).	Screw, Rear tunnel strut/Diagonal Strut to body/Rear floor	*BA61.10-P-1002-01P
6	Disconnect electrical connector (6).	Engine 279 in model 223 with code 961 (Exhaust system with OPF, generation 2.0)
7	Disconnect electrical connectors (7).	Engine 279 in model 223 with code 961 (Exhaust system with OPF, generation 2.0)
8	Remove nuts (8).	Engine 279 in model 223 with code 961 (Exhaust system with OPF, generation 2.0) Remove exhaust system (1) together with the heat shield (12).
9	Unscrew screws (9).	Screw/nut, front exhaust system bracket to exhaust line	*BA49.10-P-1012-02Y
10	Support exhaust system (1).

	000 588 24 62 00 Major assembly mount		WS01.00-P-0253B
11	Remove clamps (10).	Replace clamps (10).
		Clamp, front exhaust system to center exhaust line	*BA49.10-P-1013-02Y
12	Remove elastomer bearings (11) from the exhaust system (1).	Wet elastomer bearings (11) with lubricant.
		Antifriction paste, rubber parts 2.5 kg, DBL 6867.00	*BR00.45-Z-1002-06A
13	Remove exhaust system (1) from major assembly mount.	Aid of helper required.
14	Remove nuts (13) and remove heat shield (12).	Engine 279 in model 223 with code 961 (Exhaust system with OPF, generation 2.0) When replacing the exhaust system (1).
15	Remove screws (14).	Engine 279 in model 223 with code 961 (Exhaust system with OPF, generation 2.0) When replacing the exhaust system (1).
16	Remove nuts (15) and remove pressure lines.	Engine 279 in model 223 with code 961 (Exhaust system with OPF, generation 2.0) When replacing the exhaust system (1).
17	Remove combustion and corrosion residues from connecting points and flange connections.
	Check
18	Check elastomer bearings (11) for damage.	If there is a problem, ↓ Replace corresponding elastomer bearing (11).
19	Install in the reverse order.
	Check
20	Check installation position and clearance of the exhaust system (1).	If there is a problem, ↓ Align exhaust system (1).
	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.	Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts.	AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
21	Perform engine test run and check exhaust system (1) for leaks.
