General
The rear traffic can be observed via the inside rearview mirror and sideview mirrors.
Function
The mirror glasses of the sideview mirrors are adjusted via electric motors. In the case of the inside mirror, the entire housing is manually adjusted. For vehicles with Blind Spot Assist, the warning displays for the Blind Spot Assist are integrated in the sideview mirrors. The driver is made aware of overtaking traffic occurring in the blind spot via the warning displays.
The inside mirror is linked via a LIN connection with the overhead control panel, the sideview mirror by contrast is connected with the control unit of the respective door.
The inside rearview mirror and sideview mirrors have the following functions amongst others:
Inside rearview mirror
- Dim inside rearview mirror (vehicles with automatically dimming mirror).
Exterior rearview mirrors
- Fold in sideview mirror (vehicles with electric foldable sideview mirror).
- Heating of mirror glass of sideview mirror.
- Dim mirror glass of the sideview mirror automatically (vehicles with automatically dimming mirror).
- Move mirror glass of the sideview mirror into parking position.
