DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

  Fill with Transmission oil     
1 Put Transmission into neutral position.    
2 Secure vehicle to prevent it moving away.    
3 Remove air filter housing. Transmission 724.1 in Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 AR09.10-P-1150MFC

4 Remove cap of filler connection (6).    
5 Pour in new automatic Transmission fluid. IMPORTANT Pour drained quantity plus 0.5 liters into transmission. If the Transmission is empty, add 5.5 l

6 Install cap of filler connection (6).    
7 Clean Transmission from above.    
8 Install air filter housing. Transmission 724.1 in Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 AR09.10-P-1150MFC

9 Connect diagnostic device.    
REFER TO SELF DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06MFA
10 Start "Oil level check" routine using diagnostic device and adjust oil level. IMPORTANT Select "Control unit" menu item →
Select menu item "Actuation" →
Select menu item "Oil level check"
IMPORTANT When the functions are active, "P" and "N" flash alternately in the instrument cluster
IMPORTANT The state of charge of the high-voltage battery must be min. 40 %
IMPORTANT The Transmission oil temperature must be between 40°C and 85°C.
If the Transmission oil temperature is lower than 40°C

allow the automatic Transmission to warm up.
 
11 Lift vehicle with vehicle lift.   AR00.60-P-1006A
12 Remove rear bottom engine compartment lining. Transmission 724.1 in Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 139 Transmission 724.1 in Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260

13 Position suitable oil receptacle under transmission.    
14 Clean contact surface on guide tube for ultrasound measurement (9).    
15 Coat sensor surface of measuring head (8) with couplant.

    MB Plastilube brake paste (brownish) *BR00.45-Z-1084-06A 
16 Attach measuring head (8) of oil level sensor to guide tube for ultrasound measurement (9) and wait until value stabilizes.

17 Compare displayed oil level with specified oil level.    
18 Remove quick-release fastener (2) using socket wrench. SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench Fig 2
19 Insert socket wrench into Transmission at position one. SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench Fig 3
20 Push socket wrench upward, turn to right to position two and drain off excess automatic Transmission fluid until specified oil level is reached. SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench Fig 3
21 Turn socket wrench to left to position one and remove. SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench Fig 3
22 Screw in new quick-release fastener (2) using socket wrench. SPECIAL TOOL Socket wrench Fig 2
23 Remove measuring head (8) of oil level sensor from guide tube for ultrasound measurement (9).

24 Clean Transmission from below.    
25 Install rear lower engine compartment paneling. Transmission 724.1 in Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 139 Transmission 724.1 in Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260
