Remove/Install Transmission Oil Pump Gear - AR27.10-P-0400-01NKB

IMPORTANT

The following special tools are required: SPECIAL TOOL puller (724 589 02 33 00), SPECIAL TOOL puller (724 589 01 33 00)

The special tool puller (724 589 02 33 00)  consists of the following individual special tools:

724 589 02 33 01 

724 589 02 33 02 

724 589 02 33 03 

724 589 02 33 04 

724 589 02 33 05 

NOTES

Do not use an impact wrench or compressed air tool.

Otherwise there may be damage to the special tool and the shaft of the primary oil pump.

IMPORTANT

Perform operation steps  1 to  12 to remove and install the drive gear of the primary oil pump (oil pump gear (2)).

Perform operation steps  13 to  20 to remove and install the sensor rotor (55P) of the hollow shaft (55W) on the primary oil pump.

Remove oil pump gear (2). 

  1. Transmission 724.0 in model 117, 156, 176, 242, 246

    Determine the version of oil pump gear (2) installed.

    IMPORTANT

    Old variant of the oil pump gear (2) has 4 holes; new variant has 6 holes.

  2. Insert special tool (01) into oil pump gear (2).

    IMPORTANT

    Make sure that the pins of special tool (01) engage correctly in the oil pump gear (2).

  3. Unscrew nut (1) of oil pump gear (2).

    IMPORTANT

    The nut (1) of the oil pump gear (2) has a left-hand thread.

    IMPORTANT

    The special tool (01) supports itself on the coupling housing (K27) when removing the nut (1).

  4. Insert special tool (03) (old version) or special tool (04) (new version) into the holes of the oil pump gear (2).

  5. Insert special tool (03) (old version) or special tool (04) (new version) into the elongated holes of the special tool (01).

  6. Lift up special tool (01) slightly and install special tool (05) between special tool (01) and oil pump gear (2).

    IMPORTANT

    Make sure that the special tool (01) is seated in center, above the oil-pump drive shaft.

  7. Screw special tool (02) into special tool (01) and pry off oil pump gear (2).

    Install oil pump gear (2). 

  8. Plug oil pump gear (2) onto shaft of primary oil pump.

    NOTES Replace oil pump gear (2) after each removal.

    Otherwise the transmission will be damaged.

  9. Tighten nut (1).

    IMPORTANT

    Nut (1) has a left-hand thread.

  10. Insert special tool (01) into oil pump gear (2).

    IMPORTANT

    Make sure that the pins of special tool (01) engage correctly in the oil pump gear (2).

  11. Tighten nut (1) to specified torque TORQUE SPECIFICATION .
  12. Remove special tool (01) from oil pump gear (2).

    Remove sensor rotor (55P). 

  13. Install the SPECIAL TOOL puller (09) by hand onto sensor rotor (55P).

    IMPORTANT

    Make sure that the SPECIAL TOOL puller (09) is correctly seated on the sensor rotor (55P).

  14. Release nut (55M) of sensor rotor (55P).

    IMPORTANT

    Release nut (55M) of sensor rotor (55P) by turning the hexagon (07) of the SPECIAL TOOL puller (09). To loosen the nut (55M), counterhold the SPECIAL TOOL puller (09) at the hexagon (07) of the SPECIAL TOOL puller (09) using a suitable tool.

  15. Unscrew nut (55M) of sensor rotor (55P) and detach sensor rotor (55P) from hollow shaft (55W).

    IMPORTANT

    The nut (55M) is unscrewed and the sensor rotor (55P) detached from the hollow shaft (55W) in a single operation, whereby the hexagon (08) of the SPECIAL TOOL puller (09) is turned. Counterhold the SPECIAL TOOL puller (09) at the hexagon (07) using a suitable tool.

    Install sensor rotor (55P). 

  16. Place sensor rotor (55P) on hollow shaft (55W).
  17. Screw on nut (55M) by hand.

    IMPORTANT

    Always replace nut (55M) after removal.

  18. Install SPECIAL TOOL puller (09) onto sensor rotor (55P).

  19. Tighten nut (55M) using SPECIAL TOOL puller (09) TORQUE SPECIFICATION .

    IMPORTANT

    The nut (55M) is tightened by turning the hexagon (07) on the SPECIAL TOOL puller (09). Counterhold the SPECIAL TOOL puller (09) when tightening at the hexagon (07) using a suitable tool.

  20. Remove SPECIAL TOOL puller (09) from sensor rotor (55P).
