The following special tools are required: 2x
parallel gauge,
mount.
When ordering the special tool
parallel gauge please note that the scope of supply only includes one special tool.
A digital vernier caliper (02) is required to determine the shim size for the dual clutch (5).
Determine "dimension A"
- Install retaining ring (1).
Position parallel gauges (01) onto coupling housing (27K).
- Calibrate digital vernier caliper (02).
Position digital vernier caliper (02) on the
parallel gauges (01) and measure down to coupling housing (27K) thereby making the zero adjustment.
Make sure that the digital vernier caliper (02) is absolutely vertical to the contact surface on the coupling housing (27K).
- Measure height between
parallel gauges (01) and the retaining ring (1) of the coupling cover.
Perform measurement at three positions and calculate the mean value. Pull retaining ring (1) upwards during the measurement. Make sure that the digital vernier caliper (02) is absolutely vertical to the measurement surface on the retaining ring (1).
Determine "dimension B"
- Measure height between
parallel gauges (01) and the thrust bearing (4) of the dual clutch (5).
Perform measurement at three positions and calculate the mean value. A shim must not be installed during the measurement. Make sure that the digital vernier caliper (02) is absolutely vertical to the measurement surface on the thrust bearing (4).
Determine "dimension C"
- Insert new coupling cover (2) into
support (03).
- Calibrate digital vernier caliper (02).
Insert digital vernier caliper (02) into
mount (03) and measure down to contact surface, thereby making the zero adjustment. Make sure that the digital vernier caliper (02) is absolutely vertical to the contact surface on the
support (03).
- Measure height difference between
mount (03) and clutch cover (2).
Perform measurement at three positions and calculate the mean value. Make sure that the digital vernier caliper (02) is absolutely vertical to the measurement surface on the coupling cover (2).
- Calculate shim size for adjusting the axial play of dual clutch (5):
Shim size:
Dimension B
+ Dimension C
- Dimension A
- Fixed dimension of retaining ring (3 mm)
= Shim size "S" + oversize tolerance
Example calculation:
Shim size:
14.80 mm (dimension B)
+ 20.06 mm (dimension C)
- 30.65 mm (dimension A)
- 3 mm (Fixed dimension of retaining ring)
= 1.21 mm + oversize tolerance (0 to 0.2 mm)
An oversize tolerance of 0 to 0.2 mm must then be added to the calculated value. In the example calculation here a new shim with a thickness of 1.4 mm would be installed. The shims are available in a thickness of 0.8 to 2.6 mm in increments of 0.2 mm.
- Insertion of determined shims into thrust bearing.
- Remove retaining ring (1).
When removing the retaining ring (1) make sure that the seat of the retaining ring (1) and the sealing surface on the coupling housing (27K) are not damaged.
