- Clean cylinder barrel of cylinder liner (1) with suitable medium.
- Insert piston ring (2) in lower unworn area in cylinder barrel of cylinder liner (1) and align to cylinder liner (1).
Use a piston without piston rings for alignment.
- Measure end gap (arrow) on the piston ring (2) using a feeler gauge (3) and note result.

If wear is identifiable on one piston ring (2):
