IMPORTANT The radial shaft sealing ring (6) is vulcanized into the end cover (5) and can only, therefore, be replaced together with the end cover (5). Do not reuse end cover (5) with radial shaft sealing ring (6) after removal.

The radial shaft sealing ring (6) has both a sealing lip and a protective lip. The sealing lip, protective lip and contact surface on the crankshaft flange must not be oiled for assembly.

  1. Clean and degrease crankcase (3) and oil pan (4) in area where sealant was applied as well as contact surface on crankshaft flange with assembly cleaner, Clean and degrease Loctite 7200.

  4. Plug end cover (5) with radial shaft sealing ring (6) onto SPECIAL TOOL insertion tool (02).

NOTES Make sure that the protective lip faces in the direction of the transmission housing and the sealing lip faces in the direction of the crankcase (3). Leaks could occur otherwise at the radial shaft sealing ring (6).

IMPORTANT The radial shaft sealing ring (6) can be mounted on the SPECIAL TOOL insertion tool (02) only if SPECIAL TOOL insertion tool (02) is connected to SPECIAL TOOL insertion tool (01).

NOTES The contact surface (7a) must not be removed with coarse abrasive cloth.

This destroys the surface of the crankshaft and the crankshaft will be unusable.

  7. Tighten screws (5) in stages cross-wise TORQUE SPECIFICATION .
  8. Detach insertion tool (02) from crankshaft flange (7).
  9. Raise protective lip carefully and check for correct installation position of the sealing lip.

IMPORTANT A wrong installation position leads to leakage.

IMPORTANT The sealing lip must point towards the crankcase (3) all around its circumference.

  10. Check for correct installation position of the protective lip.

IMPORTANT The protective lip must point towards the transmission housing all around its circumference. An incorrect installation position leads to premature wear of the radial shaft sealing ring (6).
