Remove/Install Left Trailer Hitch Longitudinal Member - AR31.30-P-0005MFD

MODIFICATION NOTES

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove trailer hitch (1). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Align trailer hitch (1). AR31.10-P-8000MFA 
2 Remove nuts (3). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Tighten nuts (3) only after the trailer hitch (1) has been aligned.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, longitudinal member reinforcement for trailer hitch to body

3.1 Remove all-wheel drive control unit (N15/17) with lines still connected and place to one side. Model 177.0, 247.0/7 with code 550 (Trailer coupling) with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/allwheel drive)

NOTES Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install all-wheel drive control unit (N15/17) only after screw (5) is tightened.

3.2 Remove spare wheel well trim. Model 247.6 with code 550 (Trailer coupling)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install spare wheel well trim only after screw (5) is tightened.
 
4 Remove screw (5). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Tighten screw (5) only after trailer hitch (1) has been aligned.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, longitudinal member reinforcement for trailer hitch to body

5 Remove left longitudinal member (7) of trailer hitch (1).    
6 Install in the reverse order.    
INSPECT Check     
7 Check function of trailer hitch (1) with electrical release.   AR31.19-P-1451MFA 
8 Check function of lighting signals on trailer hitch mains outlet (1).
