Provisional sealing from the outside is considered a provisional emergency measure. This sealing method allows the journey to be continued carefully until a lasting repair can be carried out.
Prerequisites for provisional sealing
- Provisional sealing may only be performed in accordance with national guidelines/legislation.
- Provisional sealing is not approved for trucks and EM tires.
- Tire with "C" or "RF" identification may only be sealed up to a load index of 121.
- The damage must be within the repairable area (A).
- The diameter of the hole must be max. 6 mm.
- The tire sidewall may not be damaged.
Vehicles on which the tires have been provisionally sealed are subject to new permissible maximum speeds and maximum driving distances.
Country-specific repair restrictions must be observed.
If the above prerequisites are not satisfied or if the object which caused the tire damage cannot be found or if there is any other uncertainty or doubt whatsoever, provisional sealing must not be performed.
Hidden structural damage could result in premature failure of the tire.
