Remove/Install AC Condenser - AR83.30-P-6540MFA

DANGER Risk of fire  due to ignition of R1234yf refrigerant on hot components. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with escaped R1234yf refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts. Risk of explosion  due to formation of ignitable refrigerant/air mixtures Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated. DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained. AS83.00-Z-0001-01A

  Notes on handling refrigerant R1234yf   AH83.30-P-0003-02A 
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Discharge air conditioning system.   AR83.30-P-1760MFA 
2 Remove front bumper.   AR88.20-P-2000MFA
3 Remove left headlamp.   AR82.10-P-4733MFA
4 Remove air duct segment (1).    
5 Remove air duct segment (2).    
6 Remove intake air duct (3). IMPORTANT The number of intake air ducts (3) is dependent on the vehicle equipment.  
7 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (4) at left and right. Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 with code 2U8 (Alternative refrigerant) with code U60 (Pedestrian protection - Active hood) except code 2U1 (Radiator shutter)

8 Remove impact absorber (5).    
9 Remove screws (6) and remove lower holder (7).    
10 Remove screws (8, 9, 10) at left and right and remove upper holder (11). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Check for correct seating of the washer for the screw (8) on the crossmember (17).  
11 Unclip electrical wiring harness from crossmember (17). If installed.
NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject lines to tension.
Otherwise, the electric lines will be damaged.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Route electrical wiring harness along original fastening points.
 
12 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (12) at horn on left and right.    
13 Remove screws (27), remove holder (28) from crossmember (17) and place to one side. Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 with code 2U8 (Alternative refrigerant) with code M016 (Uprated engine) except code 2U1 (Radiator shutter)  
14 Remove screws (13) at left and right and remove crossmember (17). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Install new screw/bolts (13).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw, impact absorber/absorber to crossmember *BA62.30-P-1001-02O 
15 Open holder (30) of refrigerant line (29). Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 with code 2U8 (Alternative refrigerant) with code M016 (Uprated engine) except code 2U1 (Radiator shutter)  
16.1 Unclip air duct segments (14) at left and right on charge air cooler and remove. Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 with code 2U8 (Alternative refrigerant) except code 2U1 (Radiator shutter) except code M016 (Uprated engine)

16.2 Unclip air duct segments (14) at left and right from low-temperature circuit cooler and remove. Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 with code 2U8 (Alternative refrigerant) with code M016 (Uprated engine) except code 2U1 (Radiator shutter)  
17 Remove lower air duct segment.    
18 Remove nuts (15), remove refrigerant lines from condenser (16) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs.    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Compressor oils (specification 362.1) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Install new sealing rings.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Moisten sealing rings with compressor oil.

19.1 Unclip condenser (16) at charge air cooler (arrows). Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 with code 2U8 (Alternative refrigerant) except code 2U1 (Radiator shutter) except code M016 (Uprated engine)

19.2 Unclip condenser (16) from low-temperature circuit cooler (arrows). Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260 with code 2U8 (Alternative refrigerant) with code M016 (Uprated engine) except code 2U1 (Radiator shutter)  
20 Remove condenser (16).    
21 Check condenser (16) for damage. If there are problems,

Replace condenser (16).
 
22 Install in the reverse order.    
INSPECT Check     
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
23 Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.
