  1. Using the High Lift Transmission Jack, raise and position the transmission to the engine and clutch.

  2. Install the 7 transmission-to-engine bolts.
    • Tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).

  3. Position the crossmember and install the 3 LH crossmember bolts.
    • Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).

  4. Install the 4 RH crossmember nuts and tighten the upper 2 crossmember bracket nuts.
    • Tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft).

  5. Install the 2 transmission mount nuts.
    • Tighten to 81 Nm (60 lb-ft).

  6. Install the 2 engine-to-transmission spacer plate bolts.
    • Tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).

  7. Remove the transmission jack.
  8. Position the clutch slave cylinder.
    • Push in and rotate the clutch slave cylinder clockwise 45 degrees to the lock position.

  9. Install the starter. For additional information, refer to STARTING SYSTEM - GASOLINE ENGINES .
  10. Install the rear driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT .
  11. Connect the reverse lamp switch electrical connector then attach the wiring harness retainers to the transmission and crossmember.

  12. Install the fuel tubes into the plastic clip on the transmission case.

  13. NOTE: Refill the transmission with clean, specified lubricant.
  14. If drained, install the drain plug and refill the transmission.
    • Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
  15. NOTE: When installing, a slight wiggle may be necessary to seat the shifter lever between the detents.
    NOTE: Apply threadlock to the threads of the bolts.
  16. Install the lower gear shift lever and the 4 bolts.
    • Tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).

  17. NOTE: Apply threadlock to the threads of the bolts.
  18. Slide the upper shifter boot assembly up the handle shift and install the shift handle and bolts.
    • Tighten to 28 Nm (21 lb-ft).

  19. Install the front tab of the upper and lower shifter boot assembly under the floor pan. Install the 2 rear shifter boot screws.

  20. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
