Component structural integrity should be checked during engine compartment servicing. Technicians should look for cracks or breaks in the frame, gussets, side members, mounting brackets, stay rods, recirculation shields, etc. Replacing a cracked part before it breaks can save the time and expense associated with an actual in-service failure.
