Risk of injury when drilling

There is an increased risk of injury to the skin and eyes when drilling gas-filled major assemblies due to drill chips being thrown out. The chips are picked up by the pressure of the escaping gas and accelerated to a greater or lesser extent depending on the intensity of the pressure. The extent of injury increases as the pressure increases.

The pressure involved may be 75 bar or more.
