Remove/Install Brake Light Switch - Ar42.10-D-0042TS

REMOVING Remove     
1 Disconnect electrical connector of brake light switch (1).    
2 Remove brake light switch (1) from retaining clip (2). IMPORTANT To do so, press out brake light switch (1) toward rear.  
3 Remove retaining clip (2) from holder (3). IMPORTANT To do so, press together locks at side.  
INSTALLING Install     
4 Attach retaining clip (2) to holder (3). IMPORTANT Check retaining clip (2) for damage.
If corresponding findings are present,

replace brake light switch (1).
 
5 Connect electrical connector of brake light switch (1).    
6 Install brake light switch (1) into retaining clip (2).    
7 Adjust air gap (arrow). IMPORTANT To do so, position feeler gauge between brake light switch (1) and sensor plate (4) of brake pedal. It must be possible to move the feeler gauge snugly between the two components.
IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Feeler gage
IMPORTANT Do not operate brake pedal.
Clearance between brake lights switch and brake pedal sensor plate
If the feeler gauge cannot be positioned snugly:

Slide brake light switch (1) backwards or forwards by an engagement and reposition feeler gauge between brake light switch (1) and sensor plate (4) of brake pedal.
