MODEL all 

During the course of the past few years the percentage of electrical and electronic components in vehicles has increased dramatically.

To enable a complaint to be encrypted more accurately and more purposefully, the electrical lines are to be replaced by couplings and feed lines.

With immediate effect, the three known fault locations now have an additional type of fault location added to them. These four fault locations are explained below with abbreviation, definition and symbol.

The changed damage coding is valid with immediate effect for the car range, and it will gradually be introduced for the van, trucks, UNIMOG and bus ranges. Implementation is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2011.

Abbreviations 

• K/Z* stands for the coupling and feed line for an electrical component (e.g. electrical connection of control units, consumers and sensors) symbol (W)
• K/H* stands for the coupling and the high-voltage line for a hybrid or F-Cell (e.g. the connection between the power electronics and the integrated starter alternator) symbol (X)
• K/L* stands for the coupling and the optical fiber (e.g. the connection between COMAND and the instrument cluster) symbol (Y)
• ESV stands for electronic connector (e.g. the door connector between the door wiring harness and the interior wiring harness) symbol (Z)

Symbol 

K/Z*, K/H* and K/L* 

The fault locations with the abbreviations K/Z*, K/H* and K/L* include the network of components B and C in the illustration of the principle opposite.

Faults, caused by the electrical component slot (1, 2) (components A  ), are not part

of K/Z*, K/H* and K/L*, but rather they are encrypted with component (1, 2)

e.g. control unit, sensor or actuator.

ESV 

The fault locations with the abbreviations ESV include the network of components A  , B  and C  in the illustration of the principle opposite.

Complaints that occur in components D  , are not a part of ESV.

The K/Z* number corresponds to the number of connectors. There is no need for separation to the left and right.
