Remove/Install Cover On Front Backrest - AR91.18-P-1822ME

MODIFICATION NOTES

03.09.2020 Use magnet to release flap, then open it and fix it in place so that it remains open, added. Step 4

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove front seat.   AR91.10-P-1000ME 
2 Remove front seat side airbag unit.   AR91.60-P-0695ME 
3 Remove head restraint guides from front seat.   AR91.16-P-0051ME 
4 Use magnet to release flap (16), then open it and fix it in place so that it remains open. Model 167
with code 866 (Pre-installation for Rear Seat Entertainment System)
 
5 Release catch hooks (arrows) using a suitable screwdriver and pull out cover (17). Model 167

6 Unhook shackles (3) of seat backrest cover (1).    
7 Unhook terminal strips (2, 4, 5) from seat backrest. SPECIAL TOOL Extraction hook Fig 2
8 Release and disconnect electrical connectors (7) and expose electric lines. Model 167

with code 902 (Seat heater Plus for driver and front passenger)
IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors (7) varies depending on the vehicle equipment.
 
9 Release and disconnect compressed-air line (6). Model 167
with code 399 (Front multicontour seat with massage function)
NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject line to tension. This will result in damage to the line and can impair its functional capability.
 
10 Fold over seat backrest cover (1) in lower area so that staple wires (10) are accessible.    
11 Unclip staple wires (10) from catch hooks (9). IMPORTANT Make sure that the hose straps on the seat backrest cover (1) are not damaged.
IMPORTANT The number of catch hooks (9) varies depending on the vehicle equipment involved.

12 Remove seat backrest cover (1) with seat backrest padding (8) from seat backrest.    
13 Fold over seat backrest cover (1) in upper area so that staple wires (10) are accessible.    
14 Release remaining staple wires (10) from seat backrest padding (8). IMPORTANT Make sure that the hose straps on the seat backrest cover (1) are not damaged.

15 Release staple wires (15) from seat backrest padding (8). IMPORTANT Make sure that the hose straps on the seat backrest cover (1) are not damaged.

16 Remove seat backrest cover (1) from seat backrest padding (8).    
17 Remove staple wires (10, 15) from hose straps in seat backrest cover (1). When replacing the seat backrest cover (1).  
INSTALLING Install     
18 Thread staple wires (10, 15) into hose straps of new seat backrest cover (1). When replacing the seat backrest cover (1).  
19 Position seat backrest cover (1) in center of seat backrest padding (8) and align the seams of the seat backrest cover (1) with the cutouts of the seat backrest padding (8).    
20 Clip staple wires (15) into seat backrest padding (8). IMPORTANT Make sure that the hose straps on the seat backrest cover (1) are not damaged.

21 Clip staple wires (10) into upper area of seat backrest padding (8). IMPORTANT Make sure that the hose straps on the seat backrest cover (1) are not damaged.

22 Slip seat backrest cover (1) in upper area over seat backrest padding (8).    
23 Position seat backrest cover (1) with seat backrest padding (8) on seat backrest.    
24 Clip staple wires (10) into catch hooks (9) in lower area. IMPORTANT Make sure that the hose straps on the seat backrest cover (1) are not damaged.
IMPORTANT The number of catch hooks (9) varies depending on the vehicle equipment involved.

25 Slip seat backrest cover (1) in lower area over seat backrest padding (8).    
26 Connect compressed-air line (6). Model 167
with code 399 (Front multicontour seat with massage function)
NOTES

27 Connect electrical connectors (7) and route electric lines. Model 167
with code 399 (Front multicontour seat with massage function)

28 Hook terminal strips (2, 4, 5) into seat backrest.    
29 Hook in shackles (3) of seat backrest cover (1).    
30 Attach cutout for universal holder on seat backrest cover (1). Model 167
with code 866 (Pre-installation for Rear Seat Entertainment System)
When replacing the seat backrest cover (1).
AR91.10-P-8656-02ME 
31 Insert cover (17) into holder and engage (arrows). Model 167
with code 866 (Pre-installation for Rear Seat Entertainment System)
 
32 Install head restraint guides onto front seat.   AR91.16-P-0051ME 
33 Install front seat side airbag unit.   AR91.60-P-0695ME 
34 Install front seat.   AR91.10-P-1000ME
