1. Transmission 725.0 (except 725.007/017/037/047) Determine version of oil pan (3).

   Replace old version of oil pan (3) with new one.

2. Coat measuring head (2) of oil level sensor with Apply couplant and calibrate.

   Test block is included in the oil level sensor's scope of supply.

3. Coat sensor surface of sensor (2) with Apply couplant.
4. Clean measuring head mount on oil pan (3).
5. Attach sensor (2) of oil level sensor to oil pan (3).
6. Position oil receptacle under oil pan (3).

   Commercially available devices/tools 

   Oil receptacle

7. Remove quick-release fastener (1) using socket wrench.
8. Connect diagnostic device and start test routine.

   The test is called up as follows in the diagnostic system:

   → Control units view

   → Transmission control (VGS)

   → Actuations

   → Oil level check

   → Method:

   → Select oil level check using ultrasound measuring device.

   → Perform guided test routine.

   Follow work sequence in XENTRY.

9. When oil level specified value is reached in guided test routine, compare with actual value on oil level sensor.

   With thermostat-controlled oil cooler:

   After replacing oil cooler or oil lines, heat transmission oil up to 90°C until thermostat on oil cooler opens.

   Then check oil level and correct if necessary!

   If oil level is OK,

   ↓

   continue with operation step 13.

   ↓

   If the oil level is too low,

   ↓

   Continue with operation step 10.1.

   If oil level is too high:

   ↓

   Continue with operation step 10.2.

10. 1. If transmission oil level is too low.

       Insert socket wrench into oil pan (3), turn overflow pipe to "pour in oil" position (Pos. 1) and detach.

    2. If transmission oil level is too high.

       Insert socket wrench into oil pan (3), turn overflow pipe to "drain small oil filling capacities" position (Pos. 2) and detach.

       Drain transmission oil until recified value is displayed on oil level sensor.

11. Attach oil dispenser with adapter to oil pan (3) and add transmission oil.

    If transmission oil level is too low.

    Adjust air pressure at oil dispenser to 2 bar at the highest before filling transmission. Otherwise there will be damage to the oil pan (3).

12. Remove adapter and oil dispenser.

    If transmission oil level is too low.

    Remove oil dispenser with adapter with engine running.

13. Turn socket wrench to "pour in oil" position (Pos. 1) and remove from oil pan (3).

    Only remove socket wrench in "pour in oil" position (Pos. 1).

    Otherwise, when the quick-release coupling (1) is opened again an undefined quantity of gear oil will leak out.

14. Screw quick-release fastener (1) into oil pan (3).

    Replace quick-release fastener (1).

    Install included quick-release fastener (1) if oil pan (3) was replaced.

15. Remove sensor head (2) of oil level sensor from oil pan (34).
16. Clean area surrounding quick-release fastener (1) and ultrasonic sensor mount using assembly cleaner.
17. Switch off engine.
18. Disconnect diagnostic device from vehicle.
