Check Engine Cooling System For Leaktightness - AR20.00-P-1011MRK

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Release cap (1) of the coolant expansion reservoir (2) so that overpressure can be completely relieved.    
2 Remove cap (1).    
3 Check coolant level and correct.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP20.30-P-2050N
4 Attach tester cap (3) to the coolant expansion reservoir (2) and connect pressure pump (4) to the tester cap (3). SPECIAL TOOL Test cap Fig 1

INSPECT Check     
5 Apply a test pressure to the engine cooling system for 2 minutes. NOTES
Do not exceed the specified test pressure.
Otherwise the engine cooling system will be damaged.
IMPORTANT There must not be any pressure loss within 2 min.
Test pressure for pressure-testing the engine cooling system

6 Check condition of all coolant carrying component parts and connections and check for leak tightness. In the event of pressure loss.
If problems exist,

Replace corresponding components.
 
INSTALLING Install     
7 Release the test pressure via the valve on the pressure pump (4), disconnect the pressure pump (4) from the tester cap (3) and remove the tester cap (3).    
8 Check coolant level and correct.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP20.30-P-2050N
9 Install cap (1).
