| 1 | Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m). | ||

| 4 | Release and disconnect electrical connector (4) and guide electric line (5) out of the tailgate (6). | Check that the cable brackets are seated correctly and that the electric line (5) is routed correctly. To prevent noise development during vehicle operation. |

| 5 | Lift lower retainer (2) of the drive unit of the trunk lid/tailgate control on the left/right (M51/5, M51/3) with a suitable tool and remove the drive unit of the trunk lid/tailgate control on the left/right (M51/5, M51/3) from the ball pin. | Do not remove lower retainer (2). Otherwise tension can be lost. |

| 6 | Lift the upper retainer (3) of the drive unit of the trunk lid/tailgate control on the left/right (M51/5, M51/3) with a suitable tool and remove the drive unit of the trunk lid/tailgate control on the left/right (M51/5, M51/3) from the ball pin. | Do not remove upper retainer (3). Otherwise tension can be lost. |
