| 1 | Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m). | ||
| 2 | Open tailgate and secure with support. | Fig 1 | |
| 3 | Lift bottom retainer (2) of the pneumatic spring (1) with a suitable tool and remove pneumatic spring (1) from the ball pin. | Do not remove lower retainer (2). Otherwise, tension can be lost. |

| 4 | Lift top retainer (3) of the pneumatic spring (1) with a suitable tool and remove pneumatic spring (1) from the ball pin. | Do not remove upper retainer (3). Otherwise, tension can be lost. |
