| 1 | Perform commissioning of the control unit of the trunk lid/liftgate control (N121/1). | If a new control unit for the trunk lid/liftgate control (N121/1) is installed. | |

| 2 | Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m). | ||
| 3 | Remove center liftgate trim. | AR72.20-P-6618ME | |
| 4 | Release and disconnect electrical connectors. | ||
| 5 | Unscrew nut (1) and remove control unit for the trunk lid/liftgate control (N121/1). | The guides (2) must be inserted correctly in the liftgate (3). Otherwise, the control unit of the trunk lid/liftgate control (N121/1) may be damaged. |

| 6 | Install in the reverse order. | ||
| Normalizing | |||
| 7 | Close liftgate (3) by hand. | ||
| 8 | Actuate driver trunk lid/liftgate control button (S15/3) in the driver's side door trim in the "open" position until the liftgate (3) has reached the upper stop. | ||
| 9 | Actuate the driver trunk lid/liftgate control button (S15/3) in the driver's side door trim in the "open" position again for 4 s. |
