Remove/Install Rear Shock Absorber - AR32.25-P-0110MEH

Model 167 

With Code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension) 

With Code 490 (Electrohydraulic suspension)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove right or left rear wheel and tire assembly.   AR40.10-P-1102ME
2 Transfer the pneumatic pressure of the air suspension bellows into the central reservoir using the diagnostic system.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   NOTES
The complete wheels must not touch the ground.
Otherwise the air suspension bellows may suffer initial damage and malfunction at a later stage.
IMPORTANT Select menu item "Actuations" in active suspension and damping system control unit.

3 Empty hydraulic lines of electrohydraulic suspension using guided diagnosis.   AR32.50-P-0042ME 
    NOTES
The complete wheels must not touch the ground.
Otherwise shock absorbers (5) may suffer initial damage and malfunction at a later stage
IMPORTANT It is essential that shutoff valves on shock absorber (5) are closed.
 
4 Detach hydraulic lines (6) of the electrohydraulic suspension from shock absorber (5).   AR32.50-P-0043ME 
5 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
6 Remove trim (1).    
7 Remove rear fender liner.   AR88.10-P-1302ME
8 Raise wheel suspension slightly at supporting joint and support.    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 10 62 00 Support plate   WS26.00-P-3309B
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount   WS01.00-P-0092B
9 Release and disconnect electrical connector (4).    
10 Remove bolts (2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt/self-locking nut, shock absorber to frame floor assembly *BA32.25-P-1002-03K 
11 Remove bolt (3). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/self-locking nut, shock absorber to spring link *BA32.25-P-1001-03K 
12 Remove shock absorber (5).    
13 Check shock absorber (5). If shock absorber (5) is to be reused.  
      AR32.25-P-0121ME 
14 Install in the reverse order.
