C-Pillar Removal - Ar63.20-P-0500-01MEX (Model 167.9)

Model 167.9 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark separating point on C-pillar (1) and cut (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    approx. 60 mm

  2. Expose and cut off spot welds at lock striker reinforcement (2) and C-pillar (1) (areas B).
  3. Heat lock striker reinforcement (2) in cross-hatched area (area E).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  4. Remove lock striker reinforcement (2).
  5. Expose spot welds at C-pillar (1) and drill off with Ø 8 mm (area C).
  6. Expose spot welds on C-pillar (1) and drill with Ø 6.5 mm bit (area D).
  7. Heat body in cross-hatched area (area F).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched area is bonded.

  8. Remove C-pillar (1).

  9. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  10. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  11. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
