Upper Front Longitudinal Member Separation - Ar62.20-P-1286-01ME
Model 167
The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 167.1. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Expose solder seam on striker plate (2) and cut out (area A).
- Expose spot welds on striker plate (2) and cut out (areas B).
- Remove end plate (2).
- Mark separating point on the strut (3) and cut (area L).
- Expose spot welds on the strut (3) and cut out (areas C).
- Heat strut (3) in cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove strut (3).
- Expose solder seams on the striker plate (4) and cut (area D).
- Expose spot welds on the striker plate (4) and cut out (areas E).
- Remove end plate (4).
- Mark separating point on the top front longitudinal member (5) and cut (area G).
- Expose spot welds on top front longitudinal member (5) and cut out (areas H).
- Expose spot welds on the top front longitudinal member (5) and on the mounting support (6) and cut out (areas J, K).
- Bend open sheet metal lug (arrow).
- Mark separating point on the mounting support (6) and cut (area S).
- Heat top front longitudinal member (5) and mounting support (6) in the cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove top front longitudinal member (5) and mounting support (6).
- Mark separating point on top inner longitudinal member (1) and cut (area M).
Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.
Dimensions:
m = approx. 100 mm.
- Expose spot welds on top inner longitudinal member (1) and cut out (areas O).
- Expose self-piercing rivetings on top inner longitudinal member (1) and drill out with a diameter of 6 mm (area N).
- Heat top inner longitudinal member (1) in the cross-hatched areas.
Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.
- Remove top inner longitudinal member (1).
- Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas P).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
