REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open liftgate and remove rear shelf.    
2 Remove luggage security in the load compartment. Model 167.3 with code 942 (Load compartment/trunk package)

with code U40 (Safety net for luggage cover)
 
3 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmitter range (min. 2 m).    
4 Disconnect ground line from on-board electrical system battery. Model 167.3
with code 293 (Sidebag in rear left and right)

5 Unclip rear load compartment floor, lift, and disconnect electrical connector of KEYLESS-GO antenna in front load compartment. Model 167.317/354  
    IMPORTANT The KEYLESS-GO antenna is located at the bottom front of the load compartment floor.

6 Remove load compartment floor from vehicle. IMPORTANT Model 167.317/354
The KEYLESS-GO antenna remains on the load compartment floor.
 
7 Remove edge guard of the liftgate opening in the working area.    
8 Remove rear-end center-section trim.   AR68.30-P-4786ME 
9 Remove edge guard of the rear door in the working area.    
10 Remove rear door sill.   AR68.30-P-4100ME 
11 Remove rear seat cushion.   AR91.12-P-1021ME
12 Disconnect electrical connector (1) from the side section (2) of the seat backrest. Model 167.3
with code 293 (Sidebag in rear left and right)
 
13 Remove bolt (3) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, side section of rear seat backrest to holder *BA91.12-P-1012-03M 
14 Remove side section (2) of seat backrest.    
15 Fold seat backrest in the rear passenger compartment toward the front.    
16 Remove cargo retainers (4). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, cargo retainers to body *BA68.50-P-1001-03F 
17 Unclip load compartment trim (5) (arrows) SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Fig 1
18 Disconnect electrical connectors (6). When removing the right load compartment trim (5).
NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
This will result in damage to the lines and can impair their function.
IMPORTANT The number of electrical connectors (6) varies depending on the vehicle equipment.
 
19 Remove load compartment trim (5) from vehicle.    
20 Remove rear-end lowering switch (S105) from the right load compartment trim (5). Model 167.3 with code 489 (AIRMATIC)
When installing a new right load compartment trim (5).
 
21 Remove trunk socket (X58/12) from the right load compartment trim (5). When installing a new right load compartment trim (5).  
    SPECIAL TOOL Pliers Fig 2
22 Install in the reverse order.
