D-Pillar Separation - Ar63.20-P-2000-01ME (Model 167.1)

Model 167.1 

IMPORTANT The following operation steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Expose spot welds on beltline reinforcement (1) and cut out (areas A).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.

  2. Remove beltline reinforcement (1).

  3. Mark separating point on outer D-pillar (2) and cut (area B).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply.

    Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

  4. Expose spot welds on outer D-pillar (2) and drill with a 6.5 mm diameter bit (area D).
  5. Remove outer D-pillar (2).

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    b approx. 40 mm

  6. Expose spot welds on outer D-pillar (2) and cut out (areas C).

    IMPORTANT Joint spot welds on panels that are one behind the other must be cut out through two panel thicknesses.

  7. Sand down mating surfaces to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

  8. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  9. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
