Front Longitudinal Member Section SEPARATATION - Ar62.20-P-1260-01MFX

MODIFICATION NOTES

07.01.2020 Method adapted.    

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle on model 247.6. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.

The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. Mark connecting point on longitudinal member front section (1) and cut (area A).

    NOTES Do not cut too deeply. Otherwise the components below can be damaged and weakened.

    IMPORTANTDimensions: 

    a = approx. 65 mm

  2. Expose spot welds at longitudinal member front section (1) and cut off (areas B).
  3. Expose spot welds at longitudinal member front section (1) and drill off with Ø 7.0 mm through two panel thicknesses (areas C).
  4. Expose spot welds at longitudinal member front section (1) and drill out with Ø 6.5 mm (area D).

  5. Heat longitudinal member front section (1) in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded.

  6. Remove longitudinal member front section (1).

  7. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in cross-hatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.

    IMPORTANT Grind mating surface on the inside down to bare metal (area F).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces (areas E).

  8. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
