Remove/Install Rear Bumper - AR88.20-P-2200MFA

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove rear-end center-section trim. Model 177.0 AR68.30-P-4786MFA
    Model 118.3, 177.1/9, 247 AR68.30-P-4786MFV
    Model 118.6 AR68.30-P-4786MFD
2 Remove covers above the nuts (6).    
3 Remove nuts (6). IMPORTANT Use a tubular socket wrench (size 10 mm, overall length 160 mm).  
4.1 Raise vehicle. Model 247 AR00.60-P-1006A
4.2 Remove rear wheel and tire assemblies. Model 118, 177 AR40.10-P-1102MFA
5 Remove expansion rivets (2). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 1
6 Release rear fender liner in the area of the bumper (5).   AR88.10-P-1302MFA 
7 Unclip wheel arch liners from the brackets (8) on the right and left. Model 247.6/7

8 Remove screws (1). Model 118, 177  
9 Remove bolts (3, 4). IMPORTANT The number can vary depending on the model and equipment.  
10 Remove rear underfloor paneling.   AR61.30-P-1001MFA
11 Remove screws of bumper (5) below rear underfloor paneling. IMPORTANT The number and installation location may vary depending on the model and equipment.  
12 Remove rear right and left lamp unit. Model 118.3, 177.1/9 AR82.10-P-4731MFV
    Model 118.6, 177.0, 247 AR82.10-P-4731MFA
13 Unclip bumper (5) on the left and right from the brackets (7, 8) (arrows). IMPORTANT Depending on the model and equipment, different versions of the brackets (7, 8) may be installed.
IMPORTANT Helper required.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Fig 2
14 Pull bumper (5) carefully toward rear until electrical connectors are accessible. Model 118, 177, 247 with code 871 (Sensor system for trunk lid opening/closing)

IMPORTANT Helper required.
 
15 Release and disconnect electrical connectors. Model 118, 177, 247 with code 871 (Sensor system for trunk lid opening/closing)
Model 118, 177 with code 235 (Active Parking Assist)
Model 247 with code 235 (Active Parking Assist)
IMPORTANT Helper required.
 
16 Remove bumper (5) and place down on a suitable base. IMPORTANT Helper required.  
17 Install in the reverse order.
