| Remove/install | |||
| 1 | Move steering wheel (2) all the way upward. | ||
| 2 | Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m). | ||
| 3 | Disconnect ground line of battery of 12 V on-board electrical system. | AR54.10-P-0003MFA | |
| 4 | Insert extraction hook (3) into release opening (6) on steering wheel (2) (arrow A). | Fig 2 | |
| 5 | Release safety spring (4) of driver's airbag (1) using extraction hook (3) (arrow B) and lift off steering wheel (2). | ||
| 6 | Remove driver's airbag (1) then release and disconnect electrical connector (5). | This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function. |

| 7 | Install in the reverse order. | ||
| 8 | Check Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) with diagnostic device. | When replacing driver's airbag (1). | |
