General
The function of the hood lifter (1) is part of the pedestrian protection system.
The hood (2) is raised with the hood lifters (1) that are attached near the hood hinges (2). This reduces injuries caused by collisions with pedestrians.
Function
The hood lifters (1) implement the pedestrian protection. The triggering of the squibs (3, 4) lifts up the hood (2) at the rear by approx. 8 cm. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) control unit actuates the squibs directly.
