Notes On Retrofitting Electrical/Optical Lines - AH82.00-P-0000-01A
Model All (4xWD, CAR, Light transporter, smart)
Observe the following list of handling information for all retrofitted electric or optical lines.
Otherwise, the function of all existing or retrofitted electrical component parts will be impaired.
Fiber-optic cable
- Do not route the fiber-optic cable in radiuses of less than 25 mm.
- Do not expose fiber-optic cables to temperatures higher than 85°C or lower than -40°C.
- Cover up disconnected optical connectors.
The covers of the optical fibers on the device connection or at the connector of the optical wiring harness, are not available as separate items. Use covers of installed retrofit parts or a dry cloth.
Coaxial cable (antenna line)
- Do not route the coaxial cable in radiuses of less than 25 mm.
Ground point
- A maximum of 4 round cable lugs are permissible for each ground point.
If the specified ground point is already fully occupied, chose another unoccupied ground point.
Plug and contact socket
- Individual contact cavities of the plug sockets or fuse holders are numbered.
The contact cavity number is to be specified in the retrofitting instructions.
- Always note down the corresponding contact cavity assignment before removal of any individual electric lines.
- During installation of individual electric lines, the contact springs of the contact sockets must latch audibly into place.
- The connector socket's secondary locking clip must latch audibly into place.
- Use suitable tool at all times when removing individual electric lines.
Retrofitting of wiring harnesses in general
- Route wiring harnesses so that they do not rattle, kink or chafe.
If necessary, wrap fabric tape around wiring harnesses.
- Do not kink wiring harnesses.
- Do not route wiring harnesses over any sharp edges.
Mask off any sharp edges with fabric tape before routing.
- Strap down any individual wiring harness lines that are not required.
- Route wiring harnesses at a sufficient distance from moving component parts and thermal/heat emitting component parts.
For example, for steering column adjustment, hinges, exhaust systems, transmission housings for hydraulic pumps, etc.
- Do not damage wiring harnesses by crushing or trapping them.
- Route wiring harnesses along wiring harnesses on-board the vehicle.
- Use a pull-through device when routing wiring harnesses into inaccessible areas.
- When routing wiring harnesses make sure that there is sufficient excess line length to enable electric component parts to be connected.
- Strap down excess lengths of wiring harnesses at suitable point.
- The wiring harnesses are only fixed in place after the routing of all retrofitted wiring harnesses has been completed.
Fix wiring harnesses in place at a distance of max. 20 cm apart, using felt tape or cable ties.
