General
The windshield washer system washer fluid pump delivers the washer fluid to the spray nozzles of the windshield or, depending on the equipment installed, also to the headlamp cleaning system.
Function
Depending on the vehicle, the windshield washer system washer fluid pump is actuated by the central signal acquisition and actuation module or by the front signal acquisition and actuation module.
In vehicles with rear window washer system, the windshield washer system washer fluid pump supplies the rear window washer system via a second outlet (dual pump). The washer fluid is pumped through one of the two outlets depending on the rotor's direction of rotation.
Vehicles with MAGIC VISION CONTROL
The windshield washer system pump supplies the front windshield wiper via two outlets (dual pump). Depending on the direction in which the wiper arms are moving, the upper or lower side of each wiper blade is supplied with washer fluid. A second windshield washer system pump is installed for the rear window washer system.
The washer fluid quantity is adapted to the ambient conditions and driving situation. The system reduces the washer fluid consumption and distributes the washer fluid uniformly over the entire swept area. The view for the driver is improved during wiping. An expanded version of MAGIC VISION CONTROL also includes a heated washer fluid reservoir, wiper blade heater, and heated hoses.
