DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by fuel spraying out at high pressure Keep all ignition sources out of hazard area.
Do not carry out any work on system when it is pressurized.

DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove high-pressure line.   AR07.16-P-1002MFG 
2 Release and disconnect the electrical connector (2).    
3 Remove front section of fender liner in right front wheel arch.   AR88.10-P-1301MFA
4 Turn engine at the crankshaft in the direction of engine rotation to TDC marking. NOTES
Do not turn engine opposite direction of engine rotation.
Otherwise the timing chain jumps and causes engine damage.

    SPECIAL TOOL Counterholder Fig 2
5 Remove screw/bolts (3). NOTES
Unscrew and screw in screws (3) alternately by half a revolution each when removing or installing the high-pressure pump (1).
The high-pressure pump (i) will otherwise be damaged.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, high-pressure pump to cylinder head cover *BA07.02-P-1003-01D 
6 Remove high-pressure pump (i). INSTALLATION NOTES
The sealing ring (4) may not come into contact with oil before inserting the high-pressure pump (1) into the cylinder head cover.
Otherwise, the sealing ring (4) will swell and leaks will occur.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install new sealing ring (4).
 
7 Remove tappet element (5). INSTALLATION NOTES
Install the tappet element (5) in such a way that the drive roller of the tappet element (5) sits on the camshaft.
Damage can occur to the camshaft otherwise.
 
8 Check tappet element (5) for wear and damage. If there are problems,

replace tappet element (5).
 
9 Install in the reverse order.
