Remove/Install Engine Timing (Intermediate Gear) - AR05.10-P-7620-02MFG

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

TIMING CHAIN, CHAIN TENSIONER

Remove

  1. Install SPECIAL TOOL holding device (01) and secure intermediate gear (3).
  2. Remove screw (1).
  3. Mark installation depth of bearing pin (2).
  4. Attach SPECIAL TOOL puller (02) and remove bearing pin (2) with this.
  5. Remove timing chain (4) and remove intermediate gear (3) with SPECIAL TOOL holding device (01).

    Install 

  6. Insert intermediate gear (3) into chain links of timing chain (4).
  7. Install SPECIAL TOOL holding device (01) and secure intermediate gear (3).
  8. Insert bearing pin (2) and hammer in with SPECIAL TOOL drift.

    NOTES Do not hammer in bearing pin (2) too far. Cylinder head will otherwise be damaged.

    IMPORTANT Hammer in bearing pin (2) as far as marking.

  9. Tighten bolt (1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION and remove SPECIAL TOOL holding device (01).
