Prepare Engine Support Fixture During Repair Work In Vehicle - AR01.10-P-0105-02MFA

Engine 139, 260, 282, 608, 654 in model 118, 177, 247 

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

All required parts for assembly on the vehicle are contained in the tool kits of the SPECIAL TOOL support fixture and the SPECIAL TOOL crossbar.

  1. Engine 282 in model 118, 177, 247 with code ME08 (Hybrid drive 75-84 kW VARIANT (INCLUDING PLUGIN))

    Remove electric line (2) from oil pan (3) l and place to one side.

  2. Attach left and right bracket (02) to the connecting carrier (1).

    IMPORTANT The arrows on the brackets (02) must point in the direction of travel.

  3. Attach strut (03) with safety bolt (04) to the brackets (02).

    IMPORTANT Engine 139, 260, 282, 608, 654 in model 118, 177, 247

    The marking R on the strut (03) must be on the right side of the vehicle.

    IMPORTANT Model 118, 177, 247 with transmission 724.0, 724.1, 700.4, 711.6

    The marking R on the strut (03) must be on the left side of the vehicle.

  4. Attach basic carrier (05) to the strut (03).

    IMPORTANT Tighten brackets (02) and the strut (03) only once the basic carrier (05) is under the lift support point.

  5. Tighten locking clip (010) in the basic carrier (05) finger-tight.
  6. Insert anti-twist lock (06) and tighten nuts (07) slightly by hand.
  7. Install spindle (D) in the basic carrier (05).
    • 8.1  Model 118, 177, 247 with engine 260, 608 model 118, 177, 247 with transmission 724.0, 724.1

      Screw adaptation (H) onto the spindle (D).

    • 8.2  Engine 139, 654 in model 118, 177, 247 Engine 282 in model 118, 177, 247 with transmission 700.4 Engine 282 in model 118, 177, 247 with transmission 724.1

      with code ME08 (Hybrid drive 75-84 kW VARIANT (INCLUDING PLUGIN))

      Screw stamp (01) onto the spindle (D).

  8. Insert plate (08) as shown in the strut (03) and secure with the bolts (09) against falling down.
    • 10.1  Engine 260, 608 in model 118, 177, 247

      Screw in spindle (D) until the adaptation (H) makes contact.

    • 10.2  Engine 139, 282, 654 in model 118, 177, 247

      Screw in spindle (D) until the stamp (01) makes contact.

    • 10.3  Model 118, 177, 247 with transmission 711.6

      Screw in spindle (D) until the spindle (D) inserts into the mount of the transmission.
