Remove/Install Rear Fixed Element Of Panoramic Sliding Sunroof - AR77.21-P-0802MFB

Model 243, 247 

with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) 

MODIFICATION NOTES

29.07.2019 Remove/install roof railing. Operation steps 5 and 21.  

Shown on model 247.0 without code 720 (roof railing)

REMOVING Remove     
1 Open side window in driver door. IMPORTANT To prevent stationary rear element (1) on panoramic sliding roof just glued in from being pressed outwards by the air pressure when closing the doors.  
2 Adjust flexible glass element (2) of panoramic sliding sunroof to tilt position.    
3 Remove seal (3) on rear fixed element (1).    
4 Close flexible glass element (2) of panoramic sliding sunroof.    
5 Remove left and right roof railing. Model 243, 247.6/7 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)
with code 720 (Roof railing)

6 Remove left and right drip rails (4). Model 243 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR88.80-P-4000EQA
    Model 247 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR88.80-P-4000MFA
7 Determine gap dimension (B) between rear fixed element (1) and rear roof paneling (5) and note down. SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
8 Remove rear roller sunblind.   AR77.21-P-0201MFB 
9 Mask off adjacent paint surfaces with fabric tape. Adhesive fabric tape *BR00.45-Z-1062-02A 
10 Cover vehicle interior with suitable means.    
11 Punch adhesive bead (8) at front left corner with pull-in device (6) as shown and guide cutting wire into vehicle interior. NOTES
Cove body with rag (7).
Otherwise the paint on the body can be damaged.
 
WARNING Risk of injury  due to snapping or warming up of cutting wire and due to splinters when cutting out glued panoramic roofs Wear cut-proof gloves and safety glasses. AS77.21-Z-0002-01A 
12 Cut adhesive bead (8) in direction of arrow. NOTES
Ensure that outer edges of the rear fixed element (1) are protected by shields before cutting with cutting wire.
Replace damaged rear fixed element (1).
IMPORTANT Helper required.
Protect plastic mount (arrow A) on seal (3) of rear fixed element (1) against damage with shields.

13 Remove rear fixed element (1) from body. IMPORTANT Helper required.  
INSTALLING Install     
14 Prepare rear fixed element (1) for installation.   AR77.21-P-0802-02MFB 
    NOTES
Before starting work, all component parts, materials, and tools must be prepared for the installation of the rear fixed element (1). Otherwise it may not be possible to maintain permissible processing and joining times.
 
15 Prepare body flange for rear fixed element (1) of panoramic sliding sunroof for installation.   AR77.21-P-0802-03MFB 
16 Apply adhesive material for rear fixed element (1) of panoramic sliding sunroof.   AR77.21-P-0802-04MFB

17 Position rear fixed element (1) on body and align.   AR77.21-P-0802-05MFB 
    IMPORTANT Helper required.
Observe the gap dimension (B) of the rear fixed element (1) in relation to the rear roof paneling (5) determined before removal.
Center stationary rear element (1) between side roof panelings.
 
    SPECIAL TOOL Feeler gauge Fig 1
18 Remove textile adhesive tape.    
19 Install rear roller sunblind.   AR77.21-P-0201MFB 
20 Install left and right drip rails (4). Model 243 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR88.80-P-4000EQA
    Model 247 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) AR88.80-P-4000MFA
21 Install left and right roof railing. Model 243, 247.6/7 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof)
with code 720 (Roof railing)
 
      AR77.40-P-5000MFX 
22 Adjust flexible glass element (2) of panoramic sliding sunroof to tilt position.    
23 Install seal (3) on rear fixed element (1).    
24 Close flexible glass element (2) of panoramic sliding sunroof.    
INSPECT Check     
25 Before initially driving the vehicle, check strength of adhesively bonded connection by means of the produced reference adhesive bead. NOTES
Do not drive vehicle for 10 h after gluing in rear fixed element (1).
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
 
26 After the adhesively bonded connection is completely cured, remove the weights from the rear fixed element (1). NOTES
Do not remove weights before reference adhesive bead is completely cured.
Otherwise the strength of the adhesive connection can be impaired and proper adhesion of the adhesive material is not ensured.
 
27 Normalize panoramic sliding sunroof with vehicle diagnosis system and perform teach-in process for automatic reversing function.
