CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing Brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with Brake fluid Only pour Brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling Brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Carry out commissioning of ESP® control unit (N30/4). When installing a new traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
    IMPORTANT The Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) is part of the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3).  
2 Switch off ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (min. 2 m).    
3 Remove cover over Brake fluid reservoir. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Install cover only after Bleeding the Brake system.  
4 Unscrew nuts (1) and place engine fuse and relay module (K40/8) with connected electric lines to one side.    
CLEAN Clean     
5 Clean traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) in the area of the Brake line connections. NOTES
Thoroughly clean area around connecting points before opening hydraulic system. Otherwise minute particles of dirt in the hydraulic components can result in malfunctions and total failure of the hydraulic system.
IMPORTANT Only use clean, lint free rags and cleaner free of mineral oil.
Do not use any compressed air for cleaning when the Brake system is open.
 
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
6 Release and disconnect electrical connector (2) from ESP® control unit (N30/4).   AR42.45-P-0820-01FR 
    NOTES
It is essential to follow the work instructions for disconnecting the electrical connector (2). Otherwise the locking mechanism may be damaged.
NOTES
Do not touch, deform or damage contacts of electrical connector (2) and do not allow any foreign objects, soiling or fluids to enter the electrical connector (2).
Otherwise, the Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) may be damaged or it may malfunction.
 
7 Mark Brake lines (3) relative to the corresponding connection on the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3).    
8 Detach Brake lines (3) from traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3). NOTES
Seal Brake lines (3) and connections on traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3). Otherwise the traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) may be damaged by the entry of foreign objects.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Route the Brake lines (3) such that they are free of tension and do not chafe against adjacent parts. Pay attention to marking.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Retaining screw, Brake line to hydraulic unit *BA42.10-P-1004-04P

9 Remove traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3) with ESP® control unit (N30/4) upwards and out of elastomer bearings (4). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the studs (arrows) of the bracket (5) are correctly seated in the elastomer bearings (4).  
INSPECT Check     
10 Check elastomer bearings (4) for wear and damage. If there is a problem,

Replace elastomer bearing (4).
 
11 Remove screw (6) and holder (5). When installing a new traction system hydraulic unit (A7/3).  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, bracket to traction system hydraulic unit *BA42.45-P-1001-01M 
12 Install in the reverse order.    
13 Bleed Brake system.   AR42.10-P-0010FR 
14 Read out and delete fault memory using vehicle diagnosis system.
