The next steps are shown on the left side of the vehicle in model 177.0. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Install, fit and fix in place A-pillar paneling (1).
- Drill rivet holes in A-pillar paneling (1) with 6.7 mm diameter (areas A1 , A2 ).
- Drill A-pillar paneling (1) with 6.0 mm diameter through one panel thickness for plug welding (area A3 ).
- Remove A-pillar paneling (1).
- Deburr rivet holes in A-pillar paneling (1) and at body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of the riveted joints with zinc dust paint (areas A1
, A2
).
- Apply sealant to foam part in cross-hatched area (area C4 ).
- Apply 2-component adhesive to the body in the cross-hatched areas (areas C1
, C3
).
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Apply zinc dust paint to the body in the cross-hatched area (area C2
).
- Install and fix in place A-pillar paneling (1).
- Rivet A-pillar paneling (1) with rivets Ø 6.4x12 (areas E1 , E2 ).
- A-pillar paneling (1)
(areas D1 , D2 and D4 ).
- A-pillar paneling (1)
(areas F, G).
Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.
- A-pillar paneling (1)
(area D3 ).
- Grind inert gas welds flat (areas F, G).
- Solder surfaces of A-pillar paneling (1) with body solder and smoothen (areas F, G).
A basic body filler can also be used as an alternative to the restoration of the surfaces with body solder.
