Remove/Install Cover On Rear Seat Backrest - AR91.18-P-1872MEX

Model 167.9 

with code 224 (Individual rear seats) 

except code M036 (Maybach version)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove rear seat.   AR91.12-P-4026ME 
2 Remove head restraint (1).   AR91.16-P-1770ME 
3 Remove armrest (2) from seat backrest.   AR91.12-P-1749MEX 
4 Unclip cover (3). SPECIAL TOOL Long wedge Fig 1
5 Unhook seat backrest cover (4) from seat backrest frame (5). SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 2
6 Release seat backrest cover (4) together with seat backrest padding (6) in lower area of seat backrest frame (5).    
7 Release head restraint guides (7) in seat backrest and remove upwards. IMPORTANT To do so, grip between the seat backrest frame (5) and the seat backrest padding (6).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace head restraint guides (7) and ensure correct installation position.
 
8 Disconnect electrical connector of seat backrest heat mat. Model 167.9
with code 224 (Individual rear seats)
with code 872 (Left and right rear seat heating)
except code M036 (Maybach version)
 
9 Remove seat backrest cover (4) together with seat backrest padding (6).    
10 Release seat backrest cover (4) far enough from seat backrest padding (6) until the staple clips are accessible.    
11 Separate staple clips at attachment points (arrows) and remove remaining pieces from seat backrest padding (6). NOTES
Carefully remove the remaining pieces of staple clips.
Otherwise, the seat backrest padding (6) and the seat backrest cover (4) will be damaged.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Remove creases and smooth out seat backrest cover (4).

12 Remove seat backrest cover (4) from seat backrest padding (6). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Align the seat backrest cover (4) over the seat backrest padding (6) so that the seams lie in the cutouts of the seat backrest padding (6).  
13 Remove staple wires (8) from seat backrest cover (4). When replacing the seat backrest cover (4).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Insert staple wires (8) into new seat backrest cover (4).
Ensure that the staple wires (8) are seated correctly.
 
14 Install in the reverse order.
