	Remove/install
1	Remove rear seat.		AR91.12-P-4026ME
2	Remove padding (1).
3	Remove cover (2).	Model 167.1 with code 567 (Vario rear seat) with code 847 (3rd seat row) Model 167.9 with code 226 (7-seater with 3rd seat row) except code 224 (Individual rear seats) except code M036 (Maybach version) Long wedge	Fig 1
4	Remove left seat cushion (3).	When removing left seat backrest cover (4).	AR91.18-P-1851MEA
5	Unscrew screw (5) and remove seat belt end fitting from seat frame base.	When removing left seat backrest cover (4). Bolt/nut for rear belt end fitting	*BA91.40-P-1005-01U
6	Remove seat backrest trim.		AR91.12-P-1134ME
7	Remove head restraint (6).		AR91.16-P-1770ME
8	Remove cover (7).	Long wedge	Fig 1
9	Remove cover (8) from seat belt outlet and fold center seat backrest (9) forward.	When removing left seat backrest cover (4).
10	Unhook seat backrest cover (4) from seat backrest frame (10).	Dismantling tool	Fig 2
11	Disconnect electrical connectors from seat backrest. 12	Release seat backrest cover (4) together with seat backrest padding (11) from seat backrest frame (10).
13	Release head restraint guides (12) in seat backrest and remove upward.	To do so, grip between seat backrest frame (10) and seat backrest padding (11). Replace head restraint guides (12) and check for correct installation position.
14	Guide seat belt (13) through cutout in seat backrest cover (4) and in seat backrest padding (11).	When removing left seat backrest cover (4).
15	Remove seat backrest cover (4) together with seat backrest padding (11).
16	Release seat backrest cover (4) from seat backrest padding (11) until staple clips are accessible.
17	Separate staple clips from attachment points (arrows).	Remove creases and smooth out seat backrest cover (4). Padding clip pliers	Fig 3
18	Remove remaining pieces of staple clips.	Carefully remove remaining pieces of staple clips. Otherwise, the seat backrest cover (4) and seat backrest padding (11) will be damaged.
19	Remove seat backrest cover (4) from seat backrest padding (11).	Align seat backrest cover (4) over seat backrest padding (11) so that seams lie in cutouts of seat backrest padding (11).
20	Remove staple wires (14) from seat backrest cover (4).	When replacing the seat backrest cover (4). Insert staple wires (14) into new seat backrest cover (4). Ensure that staple wires (14) are seated correctly.
21	Install in the reverse order.
