General
In order to increase user comfort and to facilitate mobility planning, Mercedes-Benz offers specific telematics services for hybrid and electric vehicles. The telematics services control unit controls the services via a mobile radio connection to the Service Center. The user has the following options:
- Access to various vehicle statuses, e.g. the charge level of the high-voltage battery, the current range
- Access to defined vehicle functions, e.g. for configuration of the auxiliary climate control
The control unit for telematics services is connected to the network architecture of the vehicle. The integration into the network architecture is designed so that the head unit for the electromechanical and hybrid vehicle-specific functions do not have to be woken up in all cases.
Access occurs, for example via the Mercedes-Benz Customer Portal, the web app or the app on the smartphone.
Function requirements
- The corresponding services are activated.
- The telematics services control unit is connected with the Service Center.
- Sufficient mobile phone network coverage
Monitoring/control of charging process
The user can control the charging process by determining the following parameters, for example:
- Desired departure time
- Desired charge level of the high-voltage battery
- Preferred times for the charging process during tariff-specific charging:
This enables the user to enter preferred times of day for the charging process. The options take effect when a departure time has been specified and the battery can be fully charged prior to the departure time.
The user receives the following information, for example:
- Estimated charge level at defined departure time (in percent) or estimated charging time until the high-voltage battery is fully charged
- Current charge level (in percent)
- Current status (e.g. "charging", "not plugged in")
- Current charging capacity (in kW)
- Charging process complete
- High-voltage battery charged to x %
Monitoring/control of auxiliary climate control
The user can configure the vehicle's climate control at the departure time and display information about the status of the auxiliary climate control, e.g. the following:
- Auxiliary climate control active/not active
- Time remaining until end of auxiliary climate control
Route planning taking the range and charging stations into consideration
The route can be planned via the Mercedes me app on the user's smartphone. During route planning, the current range of the vehicle and the available charging stations are taken into consideration. Using the filter for the different charging stations, it can be ensured that only charging stations that can be used are taken into consideration.
Illustration of driving profiles
The driving profile illustration (evaluations and statistics) makes it easier for the user to get to know the driving style for an optimized range.
Settlement of payment procedure (With Code 28U (Mercedes me Charge))
This service allows the user to register with the operator of the charging stations and therefore to be able to use those charging stations. The user receives the following information, among other things, about the charging stations:
- Availability (free, occupied, status unknown)
- Location
- Contract-related tariff information
- Estimated duration of the charging process based on the charging settings in the vehicle, the current charge level of the battery and the charging capacity of the respective charging station
The user can select a charging station, authorize themselves for the charging station by pressing the start button and therefore unlock and use the charging station. The cost settlement is carried out by charging station operator.
