DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.

  Fill with transmission oil     
1 Remove bottom engine compartment paneling. Transmission 725.017 in model 222 AR61.20-P-1105LF
    Transmission 725.037 in model 167 AR61.20-P-1105ME
    Transmission 725.017/047 in model 205 AR61.20-P-1105LW
    Transmission 725.047 in model 253  
    Transmission 725.007/017/047 in model 213 AR61.20-P-1105LWE
2 Position suitable oil receptacle under transmission.    
3 Unscrew thermostat screw plug (2) with spring and thermostat element. After opening oil cooling circuit (e.g. new oil cooler).
IMPORTANT The thermostat element is under spring preload.
 
4 Screw adapter with sealing ring into opening
for thermostat element.
After opening oil cooling circuit (e.g. new oil cooler).

5 Unscrew quick-release fastener (1). NOTES
The torque specified on the oil pan is the max. torque for the quick-release coupling.
The oil pan will be damaged if the tightening torque is too strong.

6 Attach adapter and connect oil dispenser.

    NOTES
Adjust air pressure at oil dispenser to 2 bar at the highest before filling transmission.
Otherwise the oil pan may be damaged.
IMPORTANT The oil dispenser remains connected throughout the entire filling and test procedure

7 Pump transmission oil into transmission.    
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS Automatic transmission fluids (ATF) (specification 236.17) + _   BB00.40-P-0236-17A
    IMPORTANT If transmission oil was drained from the oil pan, prefill the transmission with approx. 4.5 L., for an empty transmission with 7.5 L. and for a transmission oil change with 6.0 L..  
8 Start engine. After opening oil cooling circuit (e.g. new oil cooler).
IMPORTANT Run engine for approx. 2 min.
 
9 Switch off engine. After opening oil cooling circuit (e.g. new oil cooler).  
10 Remove adapter with sealing ring from opening for thermostat element. After opening oil cooling circuit (e.g. new oil cooler).

11 Screw in thermostat screw plug (2) with spring and thermostat element. After opening oil cooling circuit (e.g. new oil cooler).
IMPORTANT Replace seal and thermostat element.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw plug (thermostat element) to clutch housing *BA27.10-P-1030-04H 
12 Start test routine, check transmission oil level and correct if necessary.   AR27.00-P-0270-02EWH

    IMPORTANT Select ultrasound measurement method in XENTRY.

13 Disconnect adapter and screw in oil dispenser and quick-release fastener (1).

    NOTES
Engine running when closing off oil dispenser.
Otherwise, more oil will run out.
 
    IMPORTANT Engine must run at idle speed, otherwise too much oil will escape.  
    IMPORTANT A small quantity of oil runs out of the overflow pipe.

14 Perform engine test run and check transmission for leak tightness and proper operation.    
15 Install lower engine compartment lining. Transmission 725.037 in model 167 AR61.20-P-1105ME
    Transmission 725.017/047 in model 205 Transmission 725.047 in model 253 AR61.20-P-1105LW
    Transmission 725.007/017/047 in model 213 AR61.20-P-1105LWE
    Transmission 725.017 in model 222 AR61.20-P-1105LF
