DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

  Preparatory activity     
1 Lift vehicle with lifting platform.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR00.60-P-1006A
INSPECT Check     
2 Check underfloor paneling for evidence of damage caused by driving over obstacles or bottoming. If the underfloor paneling exhibits any signs of damage,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
REMOVING Remove     
3.1 Remove front underfloor paneling (30), center underfloor paneling (31) and rear underfloor paneling (32). Model 166, 292  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR61.30-P-1001GQ
3.2 Install front engine compartment lining, center engine compartment lining, rear engine compartment lining. Model 167  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR61.20-P-1105ME
INSPECT Check     
4 Assess the wheel bearings by firmly tugging, pushing and turning at the wheels. If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
5 Check front axle carrier (1) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
6 Check front axle carrier elastomer bearings (2) for cracks, deformation and wear, also check for play by firmly pulling and pushing. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
7 Check stabilizer bar for cracks, deformation and corrosion. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
8 Check stabilizer bar bushings (3) for cracks, deformation and wear, also check for play by firmly pulling and pushing on stabilizer bar. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
9 Check shock absorber elastomer bearings (5) for cracks, deformation and wear, also check for play by firmly pulling and pushing. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
10 Check lower wishbone control arm elastomer bearings (24) for cracks, deformation and wear, also check for play by firmly pulling and pushing. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
11 Check outer drive shaft boots (11) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. Model 166 (except 166.006/058), 167 (except 167.148), 292
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
12 Check clamps (10) of outer drive shaft boots (11) for cracks, deformation, corrosion and correct seating. Model 166 (except 166.006/058), 167 (except 167.148), 292
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.

13 Check inner drive shaft boots (26) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. Model 166 (except 166.006/058), 167 (except 167.148), 292

rectify the problems.

14 Check clamps (10) of inner drive shaft boots (26) for cracks, deformation, corrosion and correct seating. Model 166 (except 166.006/058), 167 (except 167.148), 292

15 Check drive shafts (28) for cracks, deformation, corrosion and play by pulling and pushing. Model 166 (except 166.006/058), 167 (except 167.148), 292
IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.

16 Check lower supporting joint boots (6) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
17 Check lower supporting joints (7) for play by firmly pushing and pulling lower wishbone control arms (4). If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
18 Check upper shift rail joint boots (15) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
19 Check shift rail joints for play by firmly pulling and pushing on shift rails (14). If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
20 Check lower shift rail elastomer bearings (13) for play by firmly pulling and pressing on shift rails (14). If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
21 Check shift rails (14) for cracks, deformation and corrosion. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
22 Check upper elastomer bearings (22) of upper wishbone control arms (20) for cracks, deformation and wear, also check for play by firmly pulling and pushing. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
23 Check upper supporting joint boots (19) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
24 Check upper supporting joints for play by firmly pulling and pushing upper wishbone control arms (20). If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
25 Check level sensor linkage (23) for correct seating, cracks, deformation, corrosion and play. IMPORTANTIf necessary, use commercially available devices/tools.

If problems occur,

rectify the problems.
IMPORTANT After obtaining special order.
 
INSTALLING Install     
26.1 Install front underfloor paneling (30), center underfloor paneling (31) and rear underfloor paneling (32). Model 166, 292  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR61.30-P-1001GQ
26.2 Install front engine compartment lining, center engine compartment lining, rear engine compartment lining. Model 167  
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR61.20-P-1105ME
