DANGER Risk of fire  due to ignition of R1234yf refrigerant on hot components. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with escaped R1234yf refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts. Risk of explosion  due to formation of ignitable refrigerant/air mixtures Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated.   Draining     
1 Unscrew plugs (1).    
2 Connect filler connections of air conditioning service unit to respective service connections (2, 3).

    IMPORTANT When operating the air conditioning service unit, observe the operator's manual from the manufacturer.  
3 Extract refrigerant.

4 Note down quantity of extracted refrigerant as well as compressor oil.    
5 Check receiver drier for re-usability. If one of the following conditions is fulfilled: Vehicle is more than 5 years old, refrigerant is contaminated (color ranges from dark gray to black), refrigerant compressor is jammed or refrigerant circuit has been damaged (e.g. after an accident),

replace receiver drier.

  Evacuate     
6 Clean refrigerant and evacuate refrigerant circuit.

7 Conduct vacuum test using air conditioning service unit.

  Filling     
8 Add new compressor oil to the refrigerant circuit according to the oil filling capacity noted during extraction.

    NOTES
Only use the approved compressor oil. If it is proven that a different compressor oil has been used, we will refuse to reimburse costs within the warranty and goodwill period. Daimler AG reserves the right to perform reexaminations.
NOTES
Correct oil filling quantity in refrigerant circuit. Incorrectly measured oil filling capacity will cause damage to electric refrigerant compressor (9/5) and refrigerant compressor with magnetic clutch (9/7).
IMPORTANT Depending on the repair case, correct oil filling capacity accordingly.

    If there is a pressure drop during the pressure test,

Check air conditioning system for leaks.		  
11 Remove filler connections of air conditioning service unit from service connections (2, 3).   AR83.30-P-1761ME

12 Tighten plugs (1).
