Model All (4xWD)

Overview

This document contains information on:

General

Stationary charging is understood to mean charging at a fixed location, in contrast to charging while driving. Stationary charging of the battery ensures the battery has a sufficient battery capacity before starting a journey. There are various options for stationary charging for the various on-board electrical systems that are available depending on the vehicle.

Function

12 V on-board electrical system battery

The 12 V on-board electrical system battery can be charged with an external charger.

IMPORTANT The 12 V on-board electrical system battery is to be charged using a jump-start connection point.

24-V on-board electrical system battery (vehicles with on-board electrical system 12 V/24 V)

The 24-V on-board electrical system battery can be charged with an external 24-V charger. Alternatively, the two 12-V on-board electrical system batteries that form the 24-V on-board electrical system battery can be disconnected and each charged using an external 12-V charger.

Secondary 12 V on-board electrical system battery (vehicles for conditionally automated parking or driving)

The secondary 12 V on-board electrical system battery can be charged from the 12 V on-board electrical system using an external charger (energy transfer).

48 V battery (vehicles with 48 V technology)

The 48 V battery can be charged by charging the 12 V on-board electrical system battery using an external charger. As soon as the 12 V on-board electrical system battery is fully charged, an energy transfer takes place to the 48 V on-board electrical system via the DC/DC converter. The 48 V battery is charged.

High-voltage battery (hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles)

Depending on the vehicle equipment involved, the high-voltage battery can be charged using the charger installed in the vehicle through a service line or a charging station.
