Center Roof Paneling Separation - Ar65.10-P-1000-02MEC

IMPORTANT The next steps are shown on model 167.3 except code 414 (sliding roof).

The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. SPECIAL TOOL Insert set of spacer blocks at undamaged side between center roof paneling (1) and side roof paneling and adjust dimension.

    IMPORTANT So that the center roof paneling (1) can be adapted with the adjusted set of spacer blocks when installing.

  2. Mark positions of the SPECIAL TOOL set of spacer blocks on the vehicle and write down dimensions.
  3. Determine dimensions from outer edge of center roof paneling (1) to outer edge of front and rear roof rack.
  4. Mark positions of measuring points on vehicle and note dimensions.
  5. Expose spot welds on center roof paneling (1) and cut out (areas A).

  6. Expose spot welds on center roof paneling (1) and cut out (areas B).

  7. Separate bonding of center roof paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas (areas C).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  8. Heat center roof paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas (areas D).

    NOTES Ensure that a temperature of 120°C is not exceeded.

    Otherwise the structure of the adhesive areas below can change.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  9. Cut bondings of center roof paneling (1) in cross-hatched areas (areas E).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  10. Remove center roof paneling (1).

  11. Remove residual adhesive material from roof frame (areas F).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  12. Coat damaged points with primer.
  13. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in remaining crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  14. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  15. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas G).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  16. Remove residual adhesive material from roof frame (areas H).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  17. Coat damaged points with primer.
  18. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in remaining crosshatched areas.
  19. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
