Remove
- Mark position of propeller shaft (1) relative to flange of transmission, of differential or of transfer case with a colored marking.
- Attach
counterholder to screws of flex disk (2).
Aid of helper required.
- Remove bolts (2a).
- Remove
counterholder from flex disk (2).
Example illustration
- Detach bushings of flex disk (2) from flange with drift as shown.
- Pull propeller shaft (1) off flange of transmission, of transfer case or of rear axle differential.
Carefully detach drive shaft (1).
Otherwise the pilot bushing in the drive shaft (1) may be damaged.
Shown by way of an example on flexible coupling (2) on rear axle differential
Install
- Restore original installation position of drive shaft (1) using colored marking.
Aid of helper required.
- Push propeller shaft (1) onto flange of transmission, of transfer case or of rear axle differential.
Carefully slide on drive shaft (1).
Otherwise the pilot bushing in the drive shaft (1) may be damaged.
- Attach
counterholder to screws of flex disk (2).
- Screw-in bolts (2a).
- Remove
counterholder from flex disk (2).
