Rear Roof Paneling Section Removal - Ar65.10-P-5760-01MEC

IMPORTANT The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.

  1. SPECIAL TOOL Insert set of spacer blocks on undamaged side between roof paneling rear section (1) and side roof paneling and adjust dimension.

    IMPORTANT During installation, the roof paneling rear section (1) can be fitted with the adjusted SPECIAL TOOL set of spacer blocks.

  2. Mark positions of the SPECIAL TOOL set of spacer blocks on the vehicle and write down
  3. Determine dimensions from outer edge of roof paneling rear section (1) to outer edges of rear roof rack.
  4. Mark positions of measuring points on vehicle and note dimensions.
  5. Expose spot welds on roof paneling rear section (1) and cut out (areas A).

  6. Disconnect bondings of roof paneling rear section (1) in cross-hatched areas (areas B).

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  7. Heat roof paneling rear section (1) in cross-hatched areas (area C).

    NOTES Do not exceed temperature of 120°C.

    Otherwise the structure of the adhesive areas below can change.

    IMPORTANT Cross-hatched areas are bonded with adhesive.

  8. Remove roof paneling rear section (1).

  9. Remove residual adhesive material from roof frame (areas D).

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.

  10. Coat damaged points with primer.
  11. Grind mating surfaces down to bare metal in remaining crosshatched areas.

    IMPORTANT Grind spot weld flanges down to bare metal on both sides.

  12. Remove grinding dust and drill chips.
  13. Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.

    NOTES Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (areas E).

    Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.

    IMPORTANT Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
