Side Longitudinal Member Paneling Partial Installation - Ar63.30-P-1040-03ME
Model 167
The following operation steps are shown on the most comprehensive repair job be performed on model 167.1 on the left side of the vehicle and must be performed analogously on the right side. The higher-level service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Install longitudinal member paneling (1), fit and fix in place.
- Drill rivet holes in longitudinal member paneling (1) with Ø 6.7 mm (areas A1 , A2 , B).
- Countersink rivet holes (area B).
- Remove longitudinal member paneling (1).
- Drill rivet holes in crossmember (1) and deburr on body on both sides.
- Remove drilling chips.
- Coat insides of riveted joints with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area A1 ).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces.
- Apply 2-component adhesive to body in crosshatched areas.
Observe pretreatment of bonding surfaces and manufacturer's specifications for drying and processing time of 2-component adhesive.
- Install longitudinal member paneling (1) and fix in place.
- Rivet longitudinal member paneling (1) with Ø 6.4x12 rivet (area C).
- Rivet longitudinal member paneling (1) with Ø 6.5x12.5 rivet (area D).
- Rivet longitudinal member paneling (1) with Ø 6.5x14.5 rivet (area E).
- Rivet longitudinal member paneling (1) with countersunk-head blind rivet Ø 6.4x15.5 (area F).
- Rivet longitudinal member paneling (1) with countersunk-head blind rivet Ø 6.4x17 (area G).
- Longitudinal member paneling (1)
(area H).
- Longitudinal member paneling (1)
(area J).
Perform inert gas welding at intervals and allow to cool down in between. This reduces heat distortion.
- Grind inert gas welds down flat (areas J).
- Solder surfaces on side longitudinal member panel (1) in area of inert gas welds with body solder and smooth.
A basic body filler can also be used as an alternative to the restoration of the surfaces with body solder.
