The following operation steps are shown on the component part for the left side of the vehicle. In case of damage on the right side of the vehicle, these steps must be performed analogously.
The superordinate service document as well as the safety information in the service document must be observed.
- Mark separating points on rear fender (1) (areas B and C).
Transfer separation points from vehicle.
- Cut separating points at rear fender (1) (areas B and C).
- Cut off spot welds on lock striker bracket (area E).
Only if outer wheel well is not replaced.
- Drill out spot weld at lock striker bracket with Ø 6.5 mm (area D).
Only if outer wheel well is not replaced.
- Remove lock striker bracket.
Only if outer wheel well is not replaced.
- Grind mating surfaces on rear fender (1) down to bare metal in crosshatched areas.
Sand down spot weld flanges to bare metal on both sides.
- Remove milling and drill chips and/or grinding dust.
- Coat insides of spot weld flanges with zinc dust paint.
Do not coat bonding surfaces with zinc dust paint (area F).
Otherwise adhesion problems may occur.
Observe preliminary treatment of bonding surface.
